If you've seen the first, red band trailer for the Lonely Island's latest film (or any of their digital shorts), you know the tone that Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is going for. And the latest trailer, which dials down the swearing but ramps up the violence against Seal (as himself), maintains that tone. Check it out below.
What we have here is a behind-the-scenes look at Connor4Real (Andy Samberg), a hyped up, pumped up, and ambitious boy band frontman who has risen to megastardom on the back of his appeal to huge crowds of fans who he calls "Confidantes". But after finding success with his first solo release, his sophomore effort is going over like a full-bladdered toddler in an executive jacuzzi.
This second look at the film has more emphasis on the comic set-pieces, including Connor staging a lavish event to propose to his special lady (Imogen Poots) that includes members of the press and actual wolves, which doesn't end well for one special entertainer (we did warn you about violence towards Seal).
With fellow Lonely Island creators Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer co-writing with Samberg and taking on directorial duties, Popstar promises a host of funny and famous people in other roles and cameos as themselves including Sarah Silverman, Bill Hader,Maya Rudolph, Will Arnett, Will Forte, Tim Meadows, Snoop Dogg, Joanna Newsom and Pink. The film will assault our senses on August 28.
