Many comedians who try their hand at acting eventually feel the lure of something a little more dramatic, and it can often lead to good things. Amy Schumer has heard the siren sound now, and is joining the cast of Jason Hall's PTSD drama Thank You For Your Service.
How Schumer fits into the film isn't yet known, but she'll be part of a cast that already includes Miles Teller, Haley Bennett, Joe Cole, Beulah Koale, Scott Haze, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Brad Beyer, Omar Dorsey, and Jayson Warner Smith.
Thank You For Your Service finds the American Sniper writer turning writer/director and adapting David Finkel's book. It'll follow what happens when a group of young American soldiers return from Iraq still haunted by their experiences in combat. As they struggle to assimilate back into their families and civilian life, their war memories threaten to destroy them long after they've left the battlefield.
Hall is now rolling the cameras on the film, which has DreamWorks' backing, but no release date as of yet. Schumer, meanwhile, has recently been filming the latest season of her sketch show, Inside Amy Schumer and developing new movie roles. It'll be interesting to see her in a strictly dramatic role, as Trainwreck and her telly work have proved she can do much more than deliver jokes.
