Off the back of their work in Stranger Things, the cast are scoring some big movies. The latest of the Hawkins locals to land a role is Charlie Heaton. He's now in talks to join the cast of The New Mutants.
Josh Boone is directing the X-Men spin-off film, which focuses on a group of younger mutants who must deal with their own issues as well as the usual superheroics, albeit – as Boone has said – with more of a horror vibe this time around.
Heaton is closing in on the part of Sam Guthrie, known by the alias Cannonball who... look, you can pretty much figure it out from the name. He joins Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik) and Maisie Williams (Wolfsbane) in the cast, with Rosario Dawson locking down the role of mentor and fellow mutant Dr. Cecelia Reyes.
Knate Lee wrote the script alongside the director and production should kick off this July in Boston. The New Mutants (or possibly just New Mutants) will be out in April next year.
