Hitching your wagon to a film that has now made more than $228 million worldwide in just its first weekend feels like a smart move. And when that film is Wonder Woman, and yours is a biopic of her creator, that's an even better idea. Check out the first teaser for Professor Marston And The Wonder Women.
The (very) brief teaser ran before Wonder Woman in US cinemas this weekend, and gives just a hint of the biopic. Luke Evans is Harvard grad Dr William Moulton Marston, the man who conjured up DC’s Amazonian princess in 1941. However, Marston didn’t envisage her alone, owing the character to two very important women: both of whom he lived and had children with at the same time. Rebecca Hall plays his wife, Elizabeth Holloway Marston (who assisted William in constructing the lie-detecting systolic blood-pressure test), with Bella Heathcote as the pair’s partner, Olive Byrne.
The creation of Wonder Woman was fraught with controversy, and should be a compelling story, which Angela Robinson has written and directed. Annapurna Pictures' trailer (and the accompanying site linked at the end) offers no details of when it might be in cinemas, but expect it this year, with Connie Britton and Oliver Platt also in the cast.
