Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth instalment in Michael Bay’s increasingly explosive explosion-based franchise, is currently filming. Taking a brief break from blowing things up, the director has shared a couple of appropriately explosive set photos.

The photos, taken by Andrew Cooper, offer a typical insight into the intimate scale and delicate subtlety that has come to personify Michael Bay’s authorial nuance. We’re kidding, of course: it’s mostly stuff exploding.

The first photo, captioned “Creating Some Wicked Action in 116 Degree Weather”, depicts two enormous trucks being thrown into angles that you would generally not expect to find enormous trucks. Bay himself can be seen, dressed head-to-toe in Backstreet Boy-white.

The second photo, meanwhile, is pure unfiltered Bayhem: military men, FBI agents, rubble strewn every which way, and – of course – explosions. Explosions, everywhere.

The Last Knight – which Bay has said will be his last hurrah on the franchise as director – continues to film around the world, with stints in Havana, Detroit, Chicago, and London. Mark Wahlberg leads a cast that includes Laura Haddock, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Mitch Pileggi, and real-life knight Sir Anthony Hopkins.

On the alien robot side of things, Optimus Prime will be back, naturally, as will Megatron, plus a new character called Sqweeks. Transformers: The Last Knight explodes into cinemas on the explosive release date of June 23, 2017. Expect explosions.
