Following the loss of David Ayer to Gotham City Sirens (or whatever that project evolves into), Warner Bros. has been on the search for a director to take over the reins on the Suicide Squad sequel. And now it appears the studio has found the candidate: The Accountant's Gavin O'Connor.
The man behind Warrior and Pride And Glory, and who took over directing Jane Got A Gun at the last minute, O'Connor seems like he'd be the right man to follow up the first film, which finds some DCEU villains taking on a mission for the government. Ayer's entry didn't find a lot of love, but it was a success at the box office.
Now it appears that O'Connor will develop a script for the new movie and direct, it, reuniting the likes of Margot Robbie, Will Smith and more. He's now making a deal, which should make executives sigh with relief after flirting with the idea of Mel Gibson directing and then targeting Jaume Collet-Serra, only to see him decide to direct Jungle Cruise instead.
