She offered a compelling and complicated turn as Maeve in last year's TV update of Westworld and Thandie Newton is looking to head to another galaxy. She's in talks to join the Han Solo film.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller recently started cranking the cameras on the Star Wars stand-alone film, working under the jokey title Red Cup. The film's plot is largely a mystery, though we do know that it'll explore Solo's younger days, his complicated friendship with Lando Calrissian and his history with the Millennium Falcon.
Alden Ehrenreich is on as Han, with Donald Glover as Lando. Woody Harrelson is playing Solo's mentor, while Emilia Clarke and Fleabag co-writer/star Phoebe Waller-Bridge are on board as unknown characters.
The Han film will be with us on 25 May, 2018. Newton will be back for more Westworld, but the show isn't scheduled to return until next year. Before that, she's worked on a Nash Edgerton film and will appear in The Death And Life Of John F. Donovan.
