The upcoming young Han Solo Star Wars spin-off movie, working under the pithy title of Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film, is currently in pre-production. So far, all we know is that Alden Ehrenreich has been confirmed to step into Harrison Ford’s shoes as the scruffy-lookin’ nerf herder. But now news comes of the film’s female lead casting shortlist.

According to Variety, three actors are being tested for an unnamed female character. (Seeing as this film will be set before the events of A New Hope, don’t expect to see Princess Leia in the mix.) The shortlist includes Tessa Thompson (Creed, Selma), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot), and Zoë Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road).

All three tested in London this week, where Lucasfilm have set up a production office with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and where filming is due to commence early next year.

In other casting news, Donald Glover is apparently still the frontrunner to play Han’s ol’ buddy, Lando Calrissian, though Lucasfilm are looking for a second round of tests before officially deciding. This is news sure to please certain corners of the internet.

The Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film is due to arrive in May 2018, and will be the second Star Wars spin-off movie to arrive, after this year’s Rogue One.
