While he's long since carved his own career, often in slightly less well budgeted films than his brother makes, Clint Howard has been known to pop up in Ron Howard's movies. And the tradition will continue with the Han Solo Star Wars spin-off, as confirmed by Howard the elder on Twitter.
What Clint will be playing in the new movie is anyone's guess at this point, but we would hazard a guess at some sort of alien? After all, there's precedent – one of his earlier roles was in the original Star Trek episode The Corbomite Maneuver in 1966.
Ron Howard took over the film from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who were fired after clashes with the Lucasfilm brass over tone, level of improvisation and style of directing. Albeit after shooting on the movie for a few months... Howard has been trying to play up the positive side of things more recently. "It's a fantastic script, a great cast and I am having a fantastic creative experience with it," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's a great young cast, incredibly strong – smart, funny people who love their characters and love being part of this. I think we'll be able to do something that is a lot of fun."
With Alden Ehrenreich as Solo, the cast also includes Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Thandie Newton. It'll be on UK screens on 25 May next year.
