With Rogue One in cinemas and Episode VIII headed our way, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is starting to feel like it happened a long time ago. But there are still elements from J.J. Abrams' relaunch of that galaxy far, far away to be unearthed. Such as a deleted scene (most likely from the extended home entertainment release) that has hit the web and proves it's best not to get on Chewbacca's wrong side.

The snipped scene section, set in Maz Katana's (Lupita Nyong'o) castle/cantina finds Unkar Plutt, played through the magic of prosthetics and digital effects, by Simon Pegg, confronting Rey (Daisy Ridley). When he gets violent and then incautiously decides to square off against the universe's most famous (and famously grumpy) Wookiee, he doesn't come off well from the encounter. To quote another Pegg character, "ooh, he's got an arm off!"

It's perhaps not shocking to see why the scene was cut from the final film – it's unusually violent compared to the rest of the movie, but not entirely out of keeping with the franchise, which habitually lops off limbs. There are even supercuts devoted to the idea{ =nofollow}.

So enjoy this as you await the trailer (and, finally, title) for Episode VIII, which will be out in cinemas on 15 December.
