UPDATE: Because one trailer is never enough, the new international variant (with some alternate moments) can be found lower down the page...
After taunting us with just a taste of the new footage, Sony and Marvel debuted the first US trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming on American TV last night, and it has quickly arrived online.
Homecoming, as the high school name suggests, finds the prodigious Peter Parker (Tom Holland, back in the role after a successful introduction in Captain America: Civil War) still finding his feet (and later, wings, thanks to upgrades from Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark) as Spidey. While also balancing everything else a teenager has to go through – school, friends, trying to find some semblance of a love life.
But what other teenagers don't have to deal with is the extra-curricular likes of dangerous threats, including Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton), a seemingly ordinary man who has some high technology of his own and a criminal attitude. "The first time we see the Vulture is terrifying," Holland tells USA Today. "It’s like a horror movie: really scary, very intense and shocking." The trailer's definitely promising – some fun moments of John Hughes-esque high school stuff, quippy heroics, and of course an Iron Man (or two).
With Jon Watts directing, the cast also includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori. And not forgetting the return of Marisa Tomei as Peter's Aunt May.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will arrive in the UK on 7 July next year.
