You may have seen Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 overseer James Gunn's Twitter post (find it lower down the page), congratulating director Jon Watts and star Tom Holland as they prepare to start making Spider-Man: Homecoming. As early work gets underway on the movie, Watts has added Hannibal Buress, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and J.J. Totah to the cast.
Spider-Man: Homecoming finds Holland's Peter Parker back home in Queens after his encounter with the battling Avengers in Civil War, figuring out high school life while taking on villains such as Michael Keaton's Vulture.
Buress, who made his name on the comedy circuit and as a writer/performer, was most recently seen in Bad Neighbours 2, but no details have been revealed about his character in Homecoming. Ditto that for Amara, Lendeborg Jr. and Totah, whose casting was announced by The Hollywood Reporter.
They join a cast that also includes Logan Marshall-Green, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr., the latter of whom are playing Aunt May and Tony Stark.
In related Spider-news, Sony's animation department has announced that DreamWorks Animation veteran Bob Persichetti will direct the all-CG Spider-Man film, which has a script by Lego Movie Phil Lord and Chris Miller, is expected to arrive in December 2018. Not specifics were offered for the film, including whether it'll be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or may, as rumours have suggested, focus on fan-favourite Spidey Miles Morales.
