There has been another awakening – have you felt it? If you were in the Docklands area of East London this afternoon, there’s a good chance you might have, as a brand new look at the first Star Wars standalone film, Rogue One, debuted today at the annual Star Wars Celebration fan convention.

On the Celebration Stage, flanked by producer Kathleen Kennedy and his ensemble cast including Felicity Jones and Forest Whitaker, director Gareth Edwards introduced a three-minute behind-the-scenes teaser reel to a live audience of thousands and streamed to millions more online.

The reel gives us a continued sense of the “war movie” vibe Edwards is going for, emphasising gritty in-camera effects for what is largely the first non-Jedi Star Wars movie.

The first poster also debuted, with the Death Star looming large in the background. The panel was part of a huge weekend of events at London’s ExCel Centre – and handily, your favourite movie magazine will be there all weekend. Keep your eyes peeled on our social media feeds to see what events we have up our sleeve. Rogue One arrives in cinemas on December 16, 2016.
