We've been talking a lot about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story because of our cover reveals (and there's a little more lower down the page), but there are other Star Wars movies on the way, and Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy has talked up the young Han Solo stand-alone.

In an interview with Variety, Kennedy outlined a little more about the movie's tone and style, which will be different again from Rogue One and the saga stories such as The Force Awakens. “There are other stories that we can tell in that same transportive and transcendent spirit. Going forward, you’re going to see movies that shift tonally, some that are grittier and tougher, and some more comedic in nature, says Kennedy. "This moves closer to a heist or Western type feel. We’ve talked about Frederic Remington and those primary colors that are used in his paintings defining the look and feel of the film." You can see an example of his art below.

Turning her attention back to Rogue One, Kennedy confirmed what director Gareth Edwards has previously hinted at: the new movie will not feature one of the traditional opening crawls. "We felt that’s so indicative of what those saga films are,” Kennedy says. "Initially, we probably will begin the film in a way that is traditional, with just the title." The Han Solo film, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, will be out 25 May, 2018. Rogue One: A Story Wars Story is due here on 15 December.
