Though direvtor/producer Paul WS Anderson seemed adamant that this year's Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was the last visit to that particular video game well, it would appear that production company Constantin Film is not quite as ready to say goodbye. According to Variety, a reboot is already in the early stages.
We suppose it's not a big surprise given how the films have hinged on seemingly dead things coming back to life, and The Final Chapter's $312 million worldwide haul certainly didn't hurt. Now Constantin Film chairman Martin Moszkowicz tells the trade mag that early development work is happening on a rebooted version.
The company won't say what that means in terms of how the new film would fit into the franchise (if at all), and nothing has been revealed as to who might make it or star if Anderson and Milla Jovovich aren't involved. The former is currently busy working on Monster Hunter, which would likely keep him occupied for a while, even if he did want to have a hand in it.
So we can expect more from Resident Evil in our futu.... No, wait, come back!
