With an eye on starting to shoot the film in the coming months, Shane Black is adding more actors to the cast of The Predator. The latest arrivals are comedian Keegan-Michael Key and Moonlight breakout Trevante Rhodes.
Details about the new Predator movie are being kept behind an invisibility field for now, with rumours springing up about a suburban setting that were then debunked. So what all we really know for sure is that Black's script, co-written with Fred Dekker, follows the iconic alien hunting a new group of people, which includes Boyd Holbrook as a former Marine and Olivia Munn as a scientist. Key's character hasn't been revealed, but The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Rhodes will be Holbrook's best friend and fellow veteran{
Key has become ubiquitous on screens big and small in the last few years between his work on Key & Peele and in movies such as Keanu and Why Him? He'll next crop up in Joe Swanberg's new indie movie Win It All. As for Rhodes, he was handed a plum role by director Barry Jenkins for the acclaimed Moonlight (due here 17 February) and had worked on a few films before that. He's also been seen in Westworld. He's currently at work on Horse Soldiers opposite Michael Shannon and Chris Hemsworth. The Predator, meanwhile, is taking aim at a 9 February, 2018 Stateside opening next year, before venturing here on 16 February.
