Since the success of 300, director Zack Snyder has attached his name to, by our count, sixteen gajillion planned films. He's currently shooting Watchmen, for example, but he's also developing an adaptation of Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man, planning an original fantasy drama with Sucker Punch, and developing Army of the Dead. As well as Cobalt 60 (although all's gone silent on that point). Today's news throws another project on his To Do list, with the announcement that he's planning a change of pace by developing The Last Photograph, a war drama set in Afghanistan.
300's Kurt Johnstad is writing the script, based on one of Snyder's ideas, about a war photograph that becomes the catalyst for a journey that two men take through war-torn Afghanistan.
The two are planning to develop the script and then auction it, so it's not entirely clear if Snyder will end up directing. But even with his slate filled from now until 3000AD, we wouldn't rule it out. After all, he is an honourary Spartan, and they don't let niceties like sleep get in their way.
