Clearly aiming to keep the development momentum up, New Regency and game company Ubisoft have now hired a writer for their adaptation of** Assassin’s Creed**. Their choice? UK playwright Michael Lesslie.
Lesslie’s name might not exactly be the best-known in the world, but he’s been winning acclaim for his writing skills in short films and on the stage, where he penned Prince Of Denmark for the National Theatre last year.
He’ll be tasked with putting words in the mouth of Michael Fassbender, who is producing and starring in the project. The once and future Magneto is on to play Desmond Miles, a bartender kidnapped by a secret corporation and sent back in time via the memories of his assassin ancestors with the job of tracking down ancient artefacts.
Though they have Fassbender in place, the companies are still locking in a director and other cast members, with the intention of getting the movie in production this summer. From the sounds of it, things are moving along at a fair clip now the elements are coming into focus.
