Rachael Taylor knows a thing or two about working for Netflix after playing Trish Walker in Jessica Jones. She'll be back on the streaming service for a movie, as she and Robbie Amell are starring in a new sci-fi thriller called Arq.

Orphan Black writer Tony Elliott has written and will direct the script, which is set in a dark near-future world where the oil supply has run dry. As you might expect, post-apocalyptic conditions have taken over as wars are fought over dwindling supplies and new sources of energy are sought.

Sounding a little like a blend of The Strangers and Groundhog Day, the story finds an engineer (Amell) trapped in a house, trying to protect a new technology that could end the energy crisis. But the place is surrounded by a gang of masked intruders and, to make matters more complicated, the device has created a time loop that dooms him and his friends to relieve the same day over and over again.

Amell and Taylor should be on set soon in Toronto, and we'd expect the film to appear on the streaming service either later this year or next. Taylor most recently worked on Matthew McConaughey mining drama Gold, while Amell, a veteran of TV series such as The Flash, is part of the cast for the new X-Files episodes, due to air here next month.
