One of the earliest shows to secure Netflix's reputation as a new player in the world of TV, Orange Is The New Black has been one of the most consistent performers for the streaming service in terms of quality and buzz. The company is clearly so happy with what creator Jenji Kohan and co. are doing that it has ordered not one, not two but three more years of the series.

Originally (loosely) adapted from Piper Kerman's eponymous book about her year in a women's prison, the show has expanded far beyond just the story of Piper (played in the show by Taylor Schilling) to encompass several storylines and a sprawling, talented ensemble that regularly scores awards for their tough, funny tales of life behind bars.

“Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don't live in those cultures,” Kohan says in the press release. “Here's to keeping it interesting. Thanks Netflix! Both thanks and you're welcome Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers... with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show. Three more years! Three more years!”

Season four is in production now and will be on the service later this year (probably June, if the show's release pattern is anything to go by). The renewal means it'll be on our screens through 2019, with Kohan staying on board.
