UPDATE: Marvel has officially announced that the pair is writing the film.

We don’t yet know who will play Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel – and Kevin Feige has definitively said you won’t meet her in Avengers: Age Of Ultron – but we have a closer lead on who could be putting words in her mouth, with Guardians Of The Galaxy** co-writer Nicole Perlman and Inside Out’s Meg LeFauve in talks to provide the script.

In the film Captain Marvel will take the form of Danvers, a skilled test pilot whose DNA is melded with that of Kree warrior Mar-Vell, she gains powers such as flight, enhanced strength, damage resistance and the ability to absorb and rechannel energy. The movie, introduced as part of Marvel Studios' extensive phase three series of releases, is in development.

Perlman, of course, has a little experience with the Kree, since they were featured in Guardians, for which Perlman wrote the early drafts of the script before James Gunn took over. If she signs on, Perlman will be writing alongside LeFauve, who has contributed work to Pixar’s latest and has The Dangerous Lives Of Altar Boys among her producing credits.

Ignore the old US date above: Disney and Marvel are targeting **Captain Marvel **for October 26, 2018. Inside Out, meanwhile, will be on our screens on July 24.
