New Ghostbusters trailer brings added Chris Hemsworth

Hot on the spectral heels of the first promo comes a new international trailer for Ghostbusters. If there was a straw poll taken after the first trailer broke on Friday it came back with “more Chris Hemsworth please” as the major finding. Here's the results.

If Paul Feig’s Ect-tacular seems to be a lightning rod for online ire (“they’re ruining my substantially extended childhood,” etc), it’s hard to see what’s not to like about the combination of some of Saturday Night Live’s finest, VFX-enhanced frights, the returning Slimer and Thor as a glorified PA. Sure, it’d have been nice if Feig had got his Spy MVP Jason Statham along in some capacity, but you can’t have it all.

What we can have is cameos from most of the original cast, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. Michael Kenneth Williams, Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh and Neil Casey also appear in support.

If you’re new to this racket, this Ghostbusters features an all-female team of parapsychologists. McCarthy and Wiig play particle physicists who have “dedicated their lives to the paranormal”; McKinnon is the fire-haired engineering genius; and Jones is the street smart addition who knows Manhattan inside and out – and provides the team with its new Ecto-1. Somewhere out there, something more powerful than Stay Puft and probably uglier than Vigo the Carpathian is stirring...

Ghostbusters arrives in cinemas on July 15.
