A bear you’re unlikely to find savaging Leonardo DiCaprio any time soon, Winnie the Pooh is a British cultural treasure. The cuddly ursine with the honey addiction is at the heart of a new AA Milne biopic, Goodbye Christopher Robin, that’s in the middle of adding the much in-demand Margot Robbie to its cast.

If she signs up, the Australian actress will play Milne’s (Domhnall Gleeson) wife, Daphne de Sélincourt. The story centers on the writer’s relationship with his son Robin and how that dynamic inspired the character of Christopher Robin. Robin also provided the names for Pooh’s pals Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet.

It wasn't always the easiest time for the father-son duo, but working on creating the residents of Hundred Acre Wood helped with that.

My Week With Marilyn man Simon Curtis is behind the camera on this one. With Gleeson and Robbie involved, he’s got a pretty zeitgeisty cast to work with.

Robbie has the kind of slate that would make even Tigger a bit weary. She’s currently appearing in Tina Fey comedy-drama Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, has The Legend Of Tarzan coming on July 8 and as Harley Quinnin Suicide Squadon August 5. Beyond that, there’s crime thriller Terminal, ice-skating drama I, Tonya, as well as word of a Harley Quinn spin-off taking shape at Warner Bros..
