Though the new take on** The Crow** seemed to be headed in a more positive direction recently with the hiring of promising, up-and-coming director Corin Hardy, he’ll now have to find a new lead actor for the project, as Luke Evans has officially decided to leave in favour of other film jobs.

**The Crow **has been stalking its way through development limbo for a long time now, burning through potential people to play vengeful, haunted hero Eric Draven and a number of directors including F. Javier Gutiérrez. But nothing seemed to fall into place, even when Evans was hired as the lead.

According to The Wrap, Evans has decided he wants to pursue other work and can’t keep holding his schedule open. On the bright side for Hardy, this now means he can pursue the film exactly as he sees it, complete with finding his own Eric Draven. We suspect this is one that might have to wait a while, given how slowly things have developed so far.
