Seemingly far from its troubled development days, new drama Collateral Beauty is really landing a lot of name actors these days. Keira Knightley is just the latest to sign on to star with Will Smith.
The story finds Smith as a New York advertising executive who suffers a massive personal tragedy. Shocked at how quickly his life is going into a tailspin, his colleagues hatch an unorthodox plan to help him, only to see it backfire, and yet also work in unexpected ways.
Part of their plan is having actors playing living embodiments of the concepts of Love, Time and Death. Knightley is on to play Love. She's joining a cast that also already includes Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris.
With David Frankel on board to direct Allan Loeb's script, production is already underway with a planned US release date of December 16 this year. Knightley, who was last seen in Everest, is considering several other projects including French writer biopic Colette.
