He scored a successful opening at the US box office this past weekend with revenge thriller John Wick, which he had a hand in producing too, and Keanu Reeves has helped develop another potential starring role, setting up sci-fi thriller **Replicas.

He’ll star as a top neuroscientist whose world is shattered when his wife and family are killed in a car accident. He becomes obsessed with bringing them back to life, even if it means going up against a government-controlled lab, a police task force and – though** Star Trek**’s Mr. Scott would surely have a fit at the idea – the laws of physics and nature themselves.

Hysteria director Tanya Wexler is aboard to call the shots, working from a script by Chad St. John. He, in turn, took the story from a treatment by producer Stephen Hamel, who worked with Reeves and Lorenzo di Bonaventura to develop the idea. It’s set to shoot next year.

Reeves has several projects on the way, though none seem to have set UK release dates beyond John Wick’s reported January 2 bow. He’s working on crime drama **Daughter Of God **and has already shot both horror thriller Knock Knock (directed by Eli Roth) and legal nailbiter The Whole Truth.
