With Charlize Theron attached to star and one half of John Wick’s directing team, David Leitch, preparing to call the shots, the cast of spy thriller The Coldest City has scored another big name. James McAvoy will be bringing his talents to the film{
Dead Space/Wasteland writer Antony Johnston is behind the graphic novel source material for the film, which Kurt Johnstad has adapted. Theron will be a skilled intelligence operative that is called into action when an undercover MI6 spy is killed just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. She’ll have to track down a list he was smuggling to the West in order to prevent her and her colleagues becoming endangered by the release of crucial information. And the mission becomes a deadly game of double-crossing agents and global agendas.
Leitch is looking to kick off production on the film next month, initially in Budapest and then heading to Berlin. McAvoy is busy at the moment, squeezing in work on M. Night Shyamalan’s latest, untitled and low budget horror, before heading to Europe for the new movie.
He’ll next be seen in Victor Frankenstein, which lands here on December 3 and X-Men: Apocalypse, scheduled to arrive on May 19 next year.
