Captain America: Civil War already boasts a cast list longer than an Avengers insurance bill. Now, word comes from Marvel of yet another addition to that cast: Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts will appear in the new movie.

The news was revealed in Empire’s latest issue, which features extensive coverage on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest bust-up yet. When we spoke to the film’s sibling directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, they revealed that recent reshoots had included Paltrow, in what we understand is a small but key role.

Paltrow’s Pepper Potts first popped up in the MCU in 2008’s Iron Man, before appearing in its two sequels, and the first Avengers movie. She last appeared in the MCU in 2013’s Iron Man 3. Pepper’s name is mentioned in passing in last year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

She starts out as Tony Stark’s personal secretary, rising the ranks to become Stark Industries CEO and Tony’s love interest. No prizes for guessing which side of the Civil War she will fall on.

Paltrow joins a cast that includes – deep breath here – Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Emily Van Camp, William Hurt, Daniel Bruhl, Frank Grillo, Paul Rudd, Paul Bettany and Martin Freeman.

There’s tons of juicy tidbits on Captain America: Civil War in the new issue of Empire, including details of Martin Freeman’s character revealed, and your first official look at Crossbones. Be sure to pick up the magazine when it goes on sale on Thursday February 25. (Subscribers will be getting their limited edition covers from this week.)
