As it grew into the worldwide sensation, the team behind Game Of Thrones has had to stay on its toes, trying to keep one step ahead of set sneakers, thieves, hackers and leakers, eager to publicise the secrets of the show. Now, according to HBO programming president Casey Bloys, the show has one last trick up its sleeve to make sure we all know nothing: multiple endings.
Speaking at Moravian College last week, the executive revealed that the series' cast and crew will work on different endings for the story. "I know in Game Of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens," Bloys was quoted as saying. "You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end." Which means that not even the cast will know which ending is used until – hopefully, barring some leak – the episode itself airs. Still time to have Ser Pounce assume the Iron Throne, then, people.
The final season of Thrones kicks off shooting in October and will premiere either in 2018 or 2019, but there has been no official announcement yet. But looking back into the story's history, the home entertainment releases of Season 7 will feature a new featurette, the animated Conquest & Rebellion: An Animated History Of The Seven Kingdoms, exploring the tumultuous events that shaped the world of Westeros for thousands of years before the series start. Featuring some of the cast members as narrators, it'll be included with the Blu-ray and DVD sets, hitting US shelves on 12 December and out in the UK the day before, but you can find the first part below.
