The new film based on James O’Barr’s cult graphic novel **The Crow **is having a hell of a time flying through the cloudy skies of development. It’s had more than one director drop out, and now the latest star set to fill the title role has had to leave for scheduling reasons, with Bradley Cooper heading out the door.
Cooper entered into talks to play tragic, vengeful musician Eric Draven back in April, but now it appears his commitment to David O Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook and Alex Proyas’ Paradise Lost means he’s passing on the part. Irony alert: Proyas was the man who brought **The Crow **to life the first time back in 1994.
So who might fill in? The Heat Vision Blog has heard that there are two possibles being talked about right now – Channing Tatum and Mark Wahlberg.
Tatum has G.I. Joe 2**:** Retaliation** on his schedule, though that will start shooting shortly and will be finished by the time current Crow director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo wants to start shooting, with a slot pencilled in for early next year.
And then there’s Wahlberg, who has a history with the Draven role, having been offered it late last year and turning it down. He may well change his mind, but he’s also got a packed schedule.
Right now, there’s no word on who will end up taking the part, though production company Relativity Media is already starting the search in earnest.
