Aladdin fans had all three of their wishes granted today when the main roles for the live-action remake were duly revealed at D23. Mena Massoud takes the lead as the street-rat himself, with Power Rangers' Naomi Scott joining him as Jasmine. Not only that but Will Smith was confirmed as the big blue wish-master, taking up residence in the film's cave of wonders as the Genie.
Guy Ritchie, who has long been rumoured as the director was also confirmed as the man behind the camera. As well as locking down the talent involved, it was revealed that the film will not be a direct adaptation of the 1992 animation. While it will use that film as a template, it will also look further afield, drawing on the source material, 1001 Arabian Nights.
