Dylan O'Brien has suffered a nasty injury on the Vancouver set of Maze Runner threequel The Death Cure, according to 20th Century Fox. He's expected to make a full recovery, but the accident has temporarily halted production on the film.

O'Brien, who leads the films as Thomas, was reportedly on a set that was dressed to look like the back of a train when he fell and injured an unspecified part of his face. "He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment," said a statement from 20th Century Fox. "Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers. Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery."

Director Wes Ball put out his own statement via Twitter the next day, saying, "Well, it’s been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I’ve been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt. But, ultimately I find myself left with a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie. I’m sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew. It’s scary seeing your friend get hurt, but fortunately, Dylan is going to be just fine. After a few weeks of rest and recovery he’ll be back up and running to finish our adventure together. All the best."

It's not known yet whether the delay will mean the film's release date will be pushed from its planned February 2017 schedule.
