Given that his last performance was in Lincoln, back in 2013, it'll clearly take a special film and/or collaborator to tempt Daniel Day-Lewis back on screens. It looks like Paul Thomas Anderson, who helped him win his second Oscar, might be providing both those criteria, as Variety brings word that he's in talks to reunite with his There Will Be Blood director for a new, untitled film.
It's still at an early stage, though Day-Lewis has reportedly been loosely attached to the idea for a while now. Few details are available save that it's set in the fashion world in 1950s New York, Anderson is at work on the script and he's been meeting with actresses to fill the supporting roles.
The two have clearly been talking about this one, so fingers crossed it all works out. Annapurna Pictures is on board to produce and finance the film, so clearly it's inching closer to reality. There's no studio attached yet, but you've got to imagine several would jump at the chance to distribute the reunion of these two.
While Day-Lewis has been taking a break, Anderson has been busy, directing Inherent Vice and working with musicians such as Radiohead and Joanna Newsom.
