As the awards season continues, it's the turn of the New York Film Critics Circle to hand out their prizes, and once again it's a good day for the likes of La La Land, Moonlight and Manchester By The Sea, which are becoming heavyweights after just a few trophy announcements.
Damien Chazelle's new musical took home Best Film, while Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester nabbed another acting trophy for leading man Casey Affleck, the Screenplay prize and Michelle Williams as Best Supporting Actress, though the prize was shared between that role and performance in Certain Women.
Barry Jenkins' Moonlight, meanwhile, scored Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali), and Best Cinematography for DOP James Laxton. We were also pleased to see Zootopia (AKA Zootropolis) given some love. As usual, though the list is tempered by the fact that several of the titles won't reach UK shores until early next year.
