Director Breck Eisner's career has been something of a mixed bag – there have been fun flops (Sahara), out-and-out nonsense (The Last Witch Hunter) and effective horror (The Crazies). He's taking another stab at the killer genre, entering talks to direct the latest Friday The 13th reboot, residing at Paramount.

This latest outing for Jason Voorhees has stumbled through the development briar patch like a victim with an axe through their shoulder. Directors, including V/H/S/ contributor David Bruckner and writers such as Hannibal's Nick Antosca and Prisoners' Aaron Guzikowski have come and gone and the studio, alongside Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company, has seemed no closer to getting Voorhees back to our screens, assuming they even plan to use Jason this time...

But with the studio now back on the trail looking to return the iconic series to stalk-and-slash life, Eisner has been approached. If it all works out, the film might be in cinemas as early as next year, but then Paramount has been saying that since at least 2013...
