Pixar has given us a few chances to see footage from Cars 3 so far, and the responses have been typically mixed for a franchise that tends to divide fans of the animation powerhouse. Now comes the clearest look yet at the story for the company's next film, which finds Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) considering his future – or potential lack thereof – in racing.
With the focus back on McQueen, we catch up with the car who was once the young hotshot of the track, and now an older veteran struggling to keep up with the competition. He's especially challenged by newcomer Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer) and will need a little help from technician Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) if he's to match up.
Heading home to Radiator Springs to ask his friends' advice, Lightning has to learn a few more life lessons. Because what's a film like this without life lessons?
Brian Fee directs this one, and Cars 3 drives in to UK cinemas on 14 July, lagging behind a 16 June debut in the States.
