As the unseen writing hand behind The League Of Gentlemen, Jeremy Dyson liked to scare us as much as make us laugh. He turned to full-on creepiness with stage show Ghost Stories and now he and co-writer/director Andy Nyman are bringing the chills to the big screen with Martin Freeman and George MacKay in the cast.

Nyman, who also stars in the play and will reprise his role in the film, is Professor Phillip Goodman, a psychology academic and skeptic who sees his belief in the rational tested when his old mentor, Charles Cameron, sends him a letter.

Goodman had believed Cameron dead after he disappeared 15 years ago, but he's very much alive and looking for Goodman's help with three unsolved cases. Digging into the backstories, Goodman meets three haunted people who have terrifying tales to tell, and discovers that his own life might be affected.

The cameras should be rolling on this one in September and the spirits will be on the march next year. Freeman will next be seen in war comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on April 22 and Captain America: Civil War, due here April 29. MacKay will be part of Hulu time-travel series 11.22.63 and appears in Captain Fantastic, which just played at Sundance.
