Looks like the power of Smurfs going fully animated wasn't enough to dethrone a certain cinematic infant. Or even his beastly pal. Because The Boss Baby stayed top of the US box office chart for a second weekend, adding $26.3 million according to studio estimates.

That pumps the DreamWorks Animation film up to $89.3 million in the States, and it has nearly hit the $200 million mark worldwide. Beauty And The Beast, meanwhile, continues to thrive as another success for Disney, earning $25 million despite having been out for four weeks. The latest animation-to-live-action transformation is up to $432 million in the US and is quickly headed for the billion-dollar club globally.

Smurfs: The Lost Village had to make do with a third place launch, with $14 million on its opening weekend. That's not a great opening compared to the live-action/CG hybrids of the past, with the original modern Smurfs taking in $35 million on launch day. Elder bank robbers comedy Going In Style had the likes of Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine in the cast, but it didn't seem to get many people excited, making just $12.5 million. Still, with a lower $25 million budget to make back, the producers shouldn't have to resort to heists to find some profits. Rounding out the top five, we have Ghost In The Shell, which dropped from third place with $7.3 million.

Power Rangers was down to sixth on $6.2 million, while Kong: Skull Island slipped to seventh with $5.8 million. Logan tumbled two places from sixth to eighth place, scoring $4.05 million, while Get Out was eighth, bringing in $4.02 million. And at 10th, indie faith-based release The Case For Christ looked to get a jump on Easter time with a more limited release, and made $3.9 million.

Outside the top 10, there was the dubbed re-release of acclaimed anime Your Name, which arrived in 303 screens with $1.6 million and the initial release of new Chris Evans-starring drama Gifted, kicking off in 56 cinemas for a 16th place launch and $476,000. Expect that one to expand its screen count next week.
