With Batman V Superman now out there in the world, attention can fully turn to the next step in the DC movie universe. Which happens to be a bunch of reprobates known as the Suicide Squad. A new trailer for the movie has arrived online, full of fire, quips and a certain Caped Crusader.
From the off, we get a refresh on the concept for why Viola Davis' Amanda Waller brings the squad together – the US government and military is worried about what happens if Superman or someone with his sort of power decides to go rogue. The answer to that tricky question is to gather a bunch of bad people with interesting abilities and cajole/threaten them into becoming a fighting force for just such an occasion.
So the likes of Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and more playing the biggest bads DC has to offer are rounded up and pressed into service by Waller and Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag.
Plus we have Ben Affleck's Batman tracking down Jared Leto's Joker for the sort of confrontation you only normally get in a stand-alone Bat-flick.
Fingers crossed that Suicide Squad, written and directed by David Ayer, delivers on the potential shown by the trailers so far. The film will be out in the UK on August 5. Read our exhaustive Suicide Squad guide here.
