While Adam McKay has largely had awards season on his mind of late thanks to the success of The Big Short, he's not forgetting his nerdier side. Now, talking to Nerdist at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, McKay has confirmed that he'll definitely be back in some fashion for Ant-Man And The Wasp.
McKay was drafted in during the hectic late development days to do some work on the script for the first Ant-Man alongside star Paul Rudd, and the pair came up with some first-rate additions to the film (a few of which are detailed here). There had been hope and talk that McKay might would back in some capacity for the sequel, which should give am expanded role to Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne in her capacity as The Wasp.
“We’ve been talking to Marvel actually,” McKay says. “We just talked to them the other day, and it looks like I will be involved. I don’t know if it’s gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved." Good news!
Peyton Reed is once more directing and Ant-Man writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari will also be doing work on the script. Ant-Man And The Wasp is currently scheduled to arrive on July 6, 2018.
